CCS fast charging kit performance edition

Description

Essentially this CCS fast charging kit is an integrated charging solution for your EV conversion. Not only does it take care of the CCS charging communication it also controls the AC onboard charger and depending on the configuration even a DC/DC. Compatible with major battery management systems and easy to setup.

This EVcreate CCS fast charging kit enables you to add CCS fast charging to your EV conversion. Minimum required system voltage (at lowest SOC!) is 200V.

Supporting various battery management systems

It supports various battery management systems such as:

• Lithium Balance n-BMS
• Lithium Balance s-BMS
• Orion (in development)
• Emus (in development)
• Dilithium

Another BMSses will be added (AEM and Vero are on the list) and even more can be added in a custom implementation as long as it can provide the required (safety) data.

Supported AC onboard chargers

Furthermore, based on the data supplied by the BMS and charging station it also supports various onboard chargers.  We recommend using our 10 kW 3-phase / 6,6 kW single phase OBC that also features a 2,5 kW DC/DC and 3 kVA vehicle to load (V2L). Others like the TSM2500, Elcon, Eltek Valere, Dilong will also be supported up to three in parallel. They must have certain and unique ID’s on the CAN-BUS. The charging controller will auto-detect how many of these are used / live.  Except for the Tesla Gen2 with Openinverter logic board of which only one unit is possible. Currently the following OBC’s (220VAC) are supported:

• EVcreate 10 kW 3-phase / 6,6 kW single phase with DC/DC and V2L
• Elcon / Tcch
• Tesla Gen2 with Openinverter logic board
• Thunderstruck TSM2500

Supported isolation monitoring devices

For ‘isolation monitoring’ also known as a ground fault meter, there can only be one captain on the ship. The standards prescribe that during CCS charging the car should not disturb the charging station. So in terms of isolation monitoring this means any isolation monitoring device (IMD) should be disabled and disconnected. The EVcreate charge controller sends a tailored CAN message to Orion, Dilithium, sBMS as well as nBMS or to a Bender ISOMETER® iso165C-1, or Thunderstruck Ground Fault meter to disable it when needed.

EVcreate’s charge controller that makes adding CCS DC fast charging almost plug and play in your EV conversion. The ‘performance edition’ allows charging up to the limits that the socket and the rest of your setup allow. If the BMS Max. DC charge current is that high, the setup can do up to 500A as long as the socket temperature allows and will dynamically derate when needed.

Currently only CCS2 is fully tested and available. CCS1 implementation is ready but requires testing.

By default a ‘self assembly’ Duosida socket is included that has a max. continuous current rating of 200A DC and a boost current of 500A.

Optionally and at a surcharge of 295 ex VAT we can supply high end Phoenix contact charge ports:

• Type 2 (default): 250A DC, 32A 3-phase AC, 12v actuator, cable length 2 meter (part 1162095)
• Type 1: 250A DC, 80A 1-phase AC, 12v actuator, cable length 2 meter (part 1162163)

Those sockets have a ‘less convenient’ mounting face.

Furthermore the CCS fast charging kit consists of:

• Two EV200 500A contactors with feedback
• Control connector kits
• Process controller and CCS SLAC controller (default CAN baudrate 500 kbps)
• RGB led button

The controllers have ECE-R10 certification.

Future features:

• Display /input options to limit AC current and set max. SOC.
• Vehicle to load (V2L) Type 2 to schuko adapter
