Description
To be able to trigger regenerative braking when a driver hits the brakes a pressure transducer is needed. The sensor measures the actual hydraulic pressure in the brake lines. The transducer needs a 5V operating supply voltage and has an output voltage of 0,5 – 4,5V. The operating pressure is 0 psi to 1000 psi. Other measuring ranges are available on request. Please check the range needed to match your implementation. Pressure overload (the maximum pressure that can be applied without changing the transducer’s performance or accuracy) is 2000 psi. Burst pressure is 5000 psi. Pressure type is gauge. It has the following output curve.
Common implementation is to trigger a bit of regenerative braking at low pressure and increase regen level with pressure but at a certain amount of pressure no longer increase regenerative braking level. Furthermore you need to take into account that the maximum regen level matches the traction the wheels/tires can always deliver.
Adapter
The transducer has a 1/4 in-18 NPT port. Since that is not very common / convenient and for example does not match the Wilwood proportioning valve an adapter is provided. It is a stainless steel adapter that has a R 1/8 male and R 1/4 female.
Connector
The connector and crimp terminals (3 needed + 1 spare) als also included. Keep in mind this is a pull to seat connector! So first you need to put the wire you want to connect through the housing, then crimp the terminal and then pull it back to seat. The pinout for the transducer is:
