Description
The valve itself is waterproof, in other words it has an IP67 rating and at the same time it allows airflow. It serves two functions:
- It allows exchange of air in response to pressure changes for example due to height differences so the battery enclosure can breathe.
- In case of sudden pressure increase in a battery box (for example due to thermal runaway / fire) it will rapidly release pressure.
A vent valve / pressure relief valve / blow off valve should be used when building a sealed battery box.
They need to be installed on the outside of the battery box on a vertical surface.
